www.greenroads.over-blog.com 01. …up at Union Square this morning not long after midnight, and around six hours later again, looking for food – found a pair of newish Teva shoes – though I don’t wear shoes – and a Goodfellow brand jacket that needs washing, and a pair of dark blue pants that I washed then dried on my radiator – haven’t tried them on yet but the legs look way too long – that’s how it is with most pants I find and I have to turn them up, but these might not look acceptable if I did that… 02. “Trollopian parochial scandal”– want to mention again that phrase from David Aaronovitch’s Voodoo Histories, and want to mention again the credit I give myself – and I don’t do that too often – for recognizing the word “Trollopian”. 03. A Sunday…five days until I get my $535 check…went to the Tech Lab at 10am as usual, but it was closed. What happened? Had to wait two hours until the library opened, and later this afternoon can get online for another hour if I want. Still wanting more to do with myself. At 3pm the City Impact Christians should be visiting. And good friend Art’s got a guest, a friend in need, though Art tells me he feels a bit put upon with the intrusion. 04. Last audiobook into, from GOOP – an online magazine, I guess. About sexuality. As I said, my phone’s not working at full capacity and many of the audiobooks I have don’t play. For some reason that one does – it’s okay. Going back and forth between it and the Barry Miles Burroughs biography. Also have a few hundred notes on my little digital voice recorder that I can resort to, but I’m down from three bars to two on that device and won’t be able to buy batteries for those five days. Well, been alcohol-free for nearly a week and will continue that after I get money and will have cash on hand for longer in a month than I often have been. 05. The Orgasm Addicts as a title for fiction. Would require use of my libido, which hasn’t been high the past few days since stopping alcohol. Not thinking much of sexual things, not looking at the Erotic Beauties site. 06. Back to reviewing this blog from a few years back – noted that Art was interested in The Poet in Exile, by Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek – saw him in person back around the year 2000 when it came out – his appearance had been scheduled for the Booksmith up there on Haight but due to a larger-than-expected turnout the venue was changed to a library a block north. Got his signature. The premise is, Jim Morrison faked his death and moved to the Seychelles, got married and had kids. 07. Back then also, with Art, went to a City Impact Thursday night dinner, where we ran into Kyle, a mutual friend, and a couple of folks from the hotel. We talked about Ruslan, who was planning a long trip through Southeast Asia. (Kyle’s back home now on his family farm in Missouri…might be seeing Ruslan this afternoon at the usual City Impact visit. A nemesis of Art’s who’d been at City Impact is gone – Art just didn’t care for how he comported himself in Christian precincts and nearly once came to blows with the guy over that. Art would prefer attending services at his West Portal Lutheran church, but it’s a long way out there and he has mobility issues – just standing up and walking to his refrigerator’s a task.) 08. As noted before, back then Art and I watched a 1984 Mike Hammer movie with Stacey Keach as the Mickey Spillane detective. Made well before cell phones, Hammer uses a payphone in New York City. Some of those still around in San Francisco – they’re in the Powell BART station… Share this post
